Local Food

OOOOBY ("Out Of Our Own Back Yard") is a local food initiative.  The first OOOOBY Store in Ireland was set up in 2010 by Carraig Dúlra organic horticulture & permaculture farm in Glenealy village, Co Wicklow, and features local produce, food growing supplies, ecological products, crafts and fairtrade.  Other OOOOBY stores are being set up around the country - all of them completely independent.

Potato Day 2012

We're having our first Potato Day at the OOOOBY Store! There'll be demonstrations and talks on planting, caring for, harvesting and cooking potatoes; local food stalls (including our 9-year old local egg producer!); Irish organic seeds, organic compost & pots (including biodegradable plant pots); and a large variety of organic seed potatoes for sale.  We'll also have information on this year's improved local vegetable box scheme.

Producers Wanted!

Do you grow vegetables or fruit on a commercial basis or just for your own family needs and find that at certain times of the year you have too much produce? Are you a novice grower and need help and advice on growing veg for the first time? If the answer is YES to any of the above you may be interested in a local group called OOOOBY!

What does OOOOBY stand for and where is it based?
